Special session - Will Green Chemistry save the Blue Planet?

Monday 10th October 2011 from 19h00 to 20h30
Salle 2 / Grand Amphithéâtre

With support from the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research

Chemistry is everywhere and our Western way of life depends on it completely. It has long been synonymous with progress and emancipation, but is now overtaken by its risks. Change of model has become vital!

How to continue the progress AND change the paradigm? By starting to rethink the basics of applied chemistry. Green chemistry establishes the fundamental principles taking into account the toxicity, the management of raw material and waste and imposing a sustainable practice.

In the presence of Stéphane Sarrade, inspirer of this session, researcher in the field of green chemistry, Chief of Physical Chemistry at CEA - Saclay.
